This play is adapted from Lao She’s five short stories. And it will be the very first time for Lao She’s short stories to be shown in the theater. All those five stories are realistic and absurd.

These five short stories well reflect the traditional life in Old Beijing from multiple perspectives. The play is about the Peking Opera, Chinese kung fu, the suicide, the marital triangle.

Starring: Kesheng Lei, Chengru Li, Xu Fang

Zhaohua Lin, the artistic director of Zhaohua Lin Theater Workshop and the director of Beijing People’s Art Theater. Besides, Lin is the part -time and visiting professor in Peking University and Communication University of China. Lin has directed more than 60 plays in China since 1978.

Comment: In my opinion, The Liu Courtyard, Triangle, Office are greater in the play Five Acts of Life, and Rabbit is stopped in an eccentric rhythm. The Duanhun-spear is a little disappointing. In general, Five Acts of Life is a good play. I haven’t seen a play as good as this one for a long time. In this drama play, the miserable and merry lives of trifle characters are presented in a humorous way. The old drama actors such as Kesheng Lei and Xu Fang played well, and the young actress Xiao Guo impressed me as well.
