This play is adapted from the Ao Li’s novel of the same name. The story happened in the Beijing Fayuan temple in the late Qing Dynasty. Under the volatile and complex social environment, the reformers such as Youwei Kang, Qichao Liang, Sitong Tan and so on, took power and staged a far-reaching “Hundred Days’ Reform” movement to make a radical change to the society.

The play is about the story happened during the ‘Hundred Days’ Reform” movement in Beijing Fayuan Temple.

Starring: Meijuan Xi, Jin Chen, Jie Zhou

Qinxin Tian, the director of the National Theater of China; one of the most powerful and influential directors in Asia. Tian has a great knowledge of the traditional Chinese culture, and he also studies foreign art, western theater, film, music, painting and so on.

Comment: This play Beijing Fayuan Temple is about the discussion of imperial government between the reformists and the conservatives.
