Things are going wrong in Vienna. Moral decline and corruption paralyses the country. Duke Vincentio gave authority to the deputy. As a solution to heal the country, Angelo uses law as a threat – prisons are quickly filled up. Claudio is one of the prisoners and waits to be executed for fathering a child out of wedlock. Vincentio returns disguised as a friar and observes the evolution of the situation.

Measure for Measure is one of the most perverse plays by Shakespeare, combining political thriller with cruelty, irony and black humor. The new play's translation by Piotr Kamiński is directed by Oskaras Koršunovas. „This is a story about power, its drama and absurdities. Shakespeare poses a question whether rulers can be fair and moral, or do they use morality to gain and exercise power.” - says director.

Koršunovas’ production is a fine example of political theatre, commenting on hypocrisy of today’s politicians and playing with allusions to the Polish parliament.
