LIKE A DREAM. Director Lai Shengchuan

Drama "Like a dream" is the most anticipated drama in Chinese Theater in 21st century. There are twelve episodes in this epic drama. This play is the most breakthrough one since the Performance Workshop founded 20 years ago, and the play is also the most amazing works. This play is the pioneer to be a surrounding theater. The performing duration is up to eight hours, and the audience sit in the central area of the stage. There’re more than thirty actors, more than 300 sets of clothes. The stage consists of eight directions, three floors, and travel through time and space.

In the other side of the world, like Peter Brook in the West, Lai’s “Like a dream” tells the endless stories as The KePo Rhoda.

Lai, was born on October 25, 1954 in Washington, a native of Jiangxi Huichang, Hakka people. Doctor of California University. He is theater, television and film director in Taiwan. He is the former president of Theater Academy, the Taipei National University of Arts, and he is the visiting professor and artist at Stanford University in the United States. He founded performing arts workshop in 1984, and now he is the art director of the workshop. He is known as the best in asian theater.

Comment: Shengchuan Lai told us a simple but long story through this play. I could not tell it is the memory or dream.
