Ten years later Anna Karenina is back: a new production of one of the greatest love stories of world literature directed by Dušan Jovanović to open on our Main Stage
Anna Karenina returns to our Main Stage on Wednesday, 6 January at 20.00 with the opening of Tolstoy's cult novel, translated by Gitica Jakopin and adapted for the stage and directed byDušan Jovanović. Anna Karenina is not only a great love story of world literature, it is also an unforgiving portrayal of a cruel world in which love is defeated by revenge and moralism. Our new production features the following cast: Polona Juh (Anna Karenina), Matjaž Tribušon (Alexey Alexandrovich Karenin, her husband), Črt Veselko or Maksim Kajtimar Rozman will alternate as Seryozha, her son, Valter Dragan (Stepan Arkadyevich Oblonsky (Stiva), her brother), Iva Babić (Kitty), Maja Sever (Countess Lidia Ivanovna, Karenin’s friend), Klemen Janežič (Alexey Vronsky), Barbara Žefran (Princess Betsy Tverskaya, his cousin), Gorazd Logar(Alexander Vronsky, his brother), Zvone Hribar (Doctor), Matija Rozman (Korney, servant) and Zvezdana Mlakar (Railwayman’s widow). Dušan Jovanović adapted and directed also our previous production of Anna Karenina which opened in January 2006 on our Main stage.
